Natali H. Monnette received a B.A. in Classical Studies from the University of Idaho and a B.A. in Liberal Arts and Culture from New Saint Andrews College. She also earned an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Idaho focusing on Linguistics and Classical Languages. She currently teaches Latin to junior high kids in Wenatchee, WA, and she has also taught junior high and high school kids at Logos School and undergraduates at New Saint Andrews College, both in Moscow, ID. She and her husband Jess live in Wenatchee with their two children. Natali has a particular fondness for fairy tales, Virgil’s Aeneid, the Vulgate, and Nutella.

Best Latin Curriculum

My daughter and I have tried a couple of other curriculums and Kraken is the most straightforward and engaging that we have experienced. We are so grateful that we made the switch! The instructor is dynamic and witty and clear in her explanations. The worksheets are well laid out and appropriate in the content they cover. We highly recommend Kraken Latin.

Just started and I’m satisfied

I’ve used Memoria Press Latin for years with my homeschool children. I needed a change and decided on Kraken. So far I am very pleased! It is engaging yet rigorous. I do think it would be difficult to teach for someone with no Latin background. If that is you, get the videos.

Latin is a dead language, lying in the dust. First it killed the Romans, now it's thrilling us.

Really good books. We are teaching our five children and ourselves Latin. Frankly I find our prepositions and all more logical, comfortable, and familiar rather than this heavily inflected language. -A native English speaker.

Challenging, functional, enjoyable!

As a 8th grade student coming from other latin curriculums, Kraken Latin has been much more manageable and enjoyable. I love the imaginative stories that make me want to finish the exercises, just to see what happens! Being only 2 books including the teacher's guide, it makes this curriculum functional, while still challenging me to work my hardest and slay the Kraken!

We are loving Kraken Latin! My kids love for Latin has returned. Kraken is still challenging but the stories are fun and more applicable to every day language. It is also getting them closer to the goal of being able to read the Vulgate. The DVD instructional videos are super helpful.

Excellent student book and teacher guide.

I have been using Kraken Latin to tutor privately this summer to a 10th-grade student. It teaches Latin grammar and vocabulary in a systematic and comprehensive way, and it is also lively and interesting for the student. I appreciate the English-to-Latin translation exercises, which many modern textbooks neglect to include. The teacher guide is very helpful and recommended as well. Great textbook!
